Clear instructions, coloured life size pictures of the foundation stages are complimented with large clear graphed instructions for important sections of the project. This design is worked in soft romantic colours and tones, allowing the strength of a ‘red edged’ Begonia flower to be the central feature.
Stitch Glossary: more seven canvas stitches are detailed
About this design: Begonia’s bellowing blooms from hanging baskets and rows of terracotta pots in the historical hot house at ‘Entally Estate’ Hadspen was the inspiration for this design.
Combining my love of working with silk ribbon to create the delicate flowers complimented beautifully with the structure of creative canvas work. Hand painting along the edge of 7mm silk ribbon, then gathering the ribbon combined easily to form a Begonia flower. At the request of my students, new canvas stitches were introduced in this design, complimenting the stitches used in previous designs.
How can I use this design: This series of small creative canvas pieces can be made into a pocket purse i.e. a small bag with a long ‘handle’ that is worn as a shoulder bag, framed, made into the centre piece of a ‘green bag’, a small box cushion, the centre piece of a cushion, glued onto the cover of a blank book /folder or glued onto the front of a small concertina office storage system.
