About the Designs
My inspiration for this design was to take the various tones of the Caron Watercolors: Sunflower Seed and compliment them with the aqua and to incorporate three styles of Bargello into the design.
As I selected colours for the three other options, I wanted to aqua to be in each colourway.
A range of stitches, some delicate, some bold, some layered were selected for this design to give texture and interest.
Small squares of Bargello anchor each corner, mini squares of with the central medallion also in Bargello.
It’s a fun, bright project to stitch. The original piece I had made into a small tote bag which I use daily, it receives many compliments and comments having three wonderful years of use.
Stitches used:
Over 20 stitches are woven into Sunflower Seeds.
Bargello, mosaic, scotch, cashmere variation, upright cross, overlaid stitches, flower, square, milanese and cashmere combined, rhodes to name a few.
